A little bit about Chewed Slippers
Chewed Slippers is somewhat of a scratching of a 10 year itch (that started back when I was a nipper at just 18).
My brief spell in dental school didn’t feel quite right and neither did the colourful history of jobs that was to ensue; including property development, sales and most recently property finance analysis. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong about any of these experiences; in fact they were all punctuated with wonderful people, most of whom I’m still in touch with.
No, what was missing was what I value most in life: PASSION and FUN. Because let’s face it, life really is too short to be doddering along doing something you’re not really that in to.
And then a little flea ridden stray kitten sauntered casually into the back garden in Christmas 2007. The whole family was besotted with little Mina / Molly (we still can’t decide which, but I find she responds best to “Pssst”) and that was all the inspiration I needed … animals were the way forward from then on!
So in April 2008 a little white envelope, containing a nervously written resignation letter, marked the end of my old corporate life and the dawn of a new one.
Chewed Slippers is a very personal adventure, which I am deeply passionate about and want others (you) to become equally passionate about too. It’s not just about the products, which are design led, innovative and cherry picked from a very bloated market. It’s not just about our suppliers who love their products almost as much as their pets(!). And it’s not just about our customer focused service, our green desires or even our slaved-over website.
It’s about an ethos that brings all of that altogether. It’s this ethos and this passion that drives us to seek out amazing all natural dog food, brain training games and hand made doggy furniture.
And it’s this same ethos that aims to make Chewed Slippers a fun place to work, a source of reliable, trustworthy knowledge and good humoured doggy banter. Because the products that we sell are just the start. Our blog, Petspertise, launched on Monday 27th July 2009. We have some of the finest animal brains talking about the stuff you want to hear about, as well as the inane musings of the star of the show, Chunky the dog. And the best thing is, you’ll be involved right from the outset. We want to hear about what you think we should be offering, services & products; how they should be presented; how they should be sent and anything else you want to talk about. The big doggy conversation starts in July!
So that’s it for the moment really. Do remember that we’re at the beginning of the journey. So we’re not doing everything to the extent that we ultimately want – our product range isn’t wide enough, our packaging isn’t quite green enough, our delivery isn’t quite quick enough …. But all this and more will improve over time (especially if you let us know what you like … or don’t like).
